Project Versioning & Lifecycle Management

Hardware evolves: your customer sends a new revision with an engineering change notice, and halfway through the series a part is discontinued. With PCBoffer you keep every revision of the customer's assembly separate and quote the new one while the old one is still being sourced. As BOM management software, PCBoffer keeps every revision of the customer's assembly traceable from first quote to series change, without Excel revision chaos in work preparation.

Problem: BOM revisions, Excel chaos, and disconnected production planning

A static quote is not enough when OEMs iterate designs or components are discontinued during serial production. In traditional systems, new revisions collide with ongoing procurement, versions overwrite each other, and critical risks appear too late.

How It Works

How Agile Electronics Lifecycle Management Works

01

The OEM sends a new project revision

The new design state goes to the EMS provider and is versioned there, without interrupting active supply chains. An upload by the OEM itself is deliberately not offered: it would run unsupervised.

02

Parallel versions run automatically

While version 1 is procured for series production, version 2 is already quoted and fully traceable in parallel.

03

Standing orders & batches are tracked

Standing orders with continuous batch numbering keep planned, running, and delivered quantities transparent.

04

Pre-flight health checks detect risk

Before procurement starts, the system detects EOL and lead-time risks and triggers AI alternatives in one click.

Core Features

Functions for project versioning and procurement in electronics manufacturing

Agile Electronics Lifecycle Management

From first quote to series change, every revision of the customer's assembly is on record digitally, with every engineering change in between.

Every customer revision kept separate

Every revision is separated and fully traceable, so changes remain transparent and decisions stay audit-ready.

Parallel Revision & Procurement Workflows

Prepare the next revision while current serial procurement continues stably without blocking active orders.

Standing Orders & Batch Management

Translate frame contracts into automated call-offs with full batch history, quantity status, and delivery progression.

Production Planning & Fine Scheduling Support

Batch and revision data form a reliable basis for forward-looking EMS production planning and capacity utilization.

Obsolescence Checks & AI Alternative Suggestions

Automated pre-flight checks detect EOL and lead-time issues early, while AI finds electrically equivalent, available alternatives in seconds: by value, tolerance and package, not by part number.

Frequently asked questions

What is obsolescence management in electronics?
Keeping track of which components in your products are approaching end of life, have been discontinued, or depend on a single source, and acting before the shortage stops a line. It covers lifecycle status per part, early warning, and a qualified replacement ready when the original becomes unavailable. On a standing order the timing is what counts: the discontinuation is reported as soon as it is known, not at the next call-off. An EMS provider does not do the development and cannot redesign the assembly itself, so the time gained is the real value. It can settle the question with its own customer while the original is still available.
Obsolescence or planned obsolescence: which one is meant here?
The industrial one. This is about a component the manufacturer discontinues, not about the lifespan a finished device is designed for, which is what the consumer debate calls planned obsolescence. The question here is the capacitor that will no longer exist in eighteen months, and whether a qualified replacement is already on file for it.
How do I find an electrically equivalent replacement for an obsolete MPN?
Through parametric search rather than part-number string matching. PCBoffer normalises manufacturer data to SI base units, farad, ohm, henry, and stores it in one consistent notation, so a substitute is found by its electrical values, tolerance and package. That finds parts a text search on the part number never would.
How are RoHS and REACH / SVHC status tracked?
Per component, alongside the lifecycle and obsolescence data. RoHS status and REACH / SVHC declarations are carried with the part, so a compliance question about a finished assembly is answered from the same record that produced the quote.
What happens to older versions of a bill of materials?
They are kept. Versioning and change history stay with the product, so it can be established later which parts were fitted to which build, the prerequisite for a recall, a field failure analysis, or an audit that asks about a batch produced two years ago.
