For OEMs, hardware startups and design houses

No more black-box pricing from your manufacturer

You hand over a BOM and get a number back weeks later, with no idea what it is made of. PCBoffer turns that around: a maintained BOM with version history, solid part data, live prices from over 350 sources and the manufacturing view of your design while something can still be changed. Getting started is free and needs no sales call.

  • Bare board price and manufacturability findings from the fabrication data set, before an order exists, instead of weeks after the enquiry.
  • Check manufacturability on the layout before an order goes out: 20 rules report the limit, the measured value and the spot on the board.
  • End-of-life alerts per part, automatically by email, before an obsolescence stops your series launch.
  • One BOM with versions, change history and comments instead of file attachments in an email thread nobody can tell apart any more.

Flying blind between a finished layout and the first solid price

In many projects, weeks pass between a finished layout and a price a budget can rest on. The BOM goes out by email to several manufacturers, questions come back about parts that no longer exist, and in the end the quotations on the table cannot be compared because everyone costs differently. By then the cost decision has long been made, in the layout, where a different package, a different layer stack or a second source would still have been free. PCBoffer pulls that information forward, so you can talk about the design while talking is still cheaper than changing.

Why PCBoffer for R&D?

Empowering hardware teams with true manufacturing data

BOM & Lifecycle Management

Versioning & proactive obsolescence management. Get automated end-of-life (EOL) alerts for your components before they delay your production.

True Costing by Design

Stop guessing "should-costs". See real-world manufacturing and material costs while you are still engineering the product.

Live Supply Chain Transparency

Direct API interfaces to the distributors, price lookup across over 350 catalogues. Instantly check your and your distributors' stock and pricing for Make-or-Buy decisions or component provisioning.

Seamless Collaboration

Centralized communication with your R&D team, your customer and external EMS partners. Track versions, changes, and approvals in one place.

What a development team uses it for

Four things that work today. Each one operates on the data set rather than on a machine, which is why none of them needs a factory of your own.

Check manufacturability on the layout

The check measures the geometry of the submitted board against a rule catalogue: track width and clearance, copper to board edge, annular ring, drill diameter and aspect ratio, solder mask web, thermal reliefs and unconnected nets. 20 rules can raise a finding, and every finding carries the limit, the measured value, the unit and the spot on the board with coordinate and layer. That makes it something you can jump to in the CAD system rather than a red line in a PDF. With no plant of your own configured, the catalogue limits apply.

Pick a component once instead of keying it into the ERP twice

A developer settles on a component and then creates it by hand in the ERP, be it SAP, Odoo or Dynamics: part number, manufacturer, package, procurement data. The platform cleans a whole batch of raw ERP rows and matches them to the actual components, instead of each row passing through a pair of hands one at a time. The master record then comes out of the choice that was made anyway.

More on ERP integration

Propose a substitute, leave the decision to a person

The search for a replacement runs on the technical values rather than on the part number, and the route to the proposal is recorded: you can see why a proposal is a proposal. Accepting or rejecting it is a manual step. Nothing is substituted automatically, and that is deliberate: a silently swapped component surfaces in series production, where the mistake is expensive.

Sourcing across the whole bill of materials

Price and availability come live from the connected distributors. On top of that sits an optimiser that spreads a complete bill of materials across sources instead of treating each line on its own. The same basis carries the make-or-buy decision: material cost from the bill of materials against production cost computed from the plant’s machine model rather than from a rule of thumb. Both concern purchasing and assume no production of your own.

And the same thing inside the CAD system

The handover does not have to go through files. The PCBoffer plugin sits in the board editor: you set the quantity, press calculate cost, and geometry, placement coordinates and bill of materials go to the platform without anyone zipping a folder. The plugin exists for KiCad and for Altium.

Frequently asked questions

What does PCBoffer do for an OEM that does not manufacture in-house?
Two things that do not depend on owning a factory. First, a maintained BOM: versions, change history, team comments and obsolescence alerts, instead of a spreadsheet that exists in several circulating copies. Second, the manufacturing view of your own design before an order exists, what a layout triggers in a specific factory in cost, CO2e, compliance and supply risk. Production still happens at your manufacturing partner.
How do I find out that a component is being discontinued?
Automatically by e-mail, per component and per BOM. Lifecycle data is checked continuously against the BOM positions; when a component's status changes to NRND or EOL, the team that owns the BOM is notified. The alert comes with a parametric substitute search: candidates are found by electrical equivalence and package on a normalized component database, not by part-number string similarity.
Which PCBoffer tier fits an OEM development team?
The ENGINEER tier is free for a single user and covers BOM upload, scrubbing and live stock levels. The TEAM tier is a flat 99 € to 199 € per month for 5 to 20 users and adds versioning, change history, team comments, obsolescence alerts and approval workflows. ENTERPRISE is priced per user and adds ERP sync and single sign-on. The full comparison is further up this page.
Where do the prices and availability figures come from?
From more than 350 distributor and manufacturer sources queried in real time, including DigiKey, Mouser, Arrow, Farnell, TME, Rutronik and SOS electronic, plus manufacturer-direct sources. Price, stock and lead time are retrieved, each carrying the source the value came from.
How is this different from a PLM system?
A PLM system knows the design state: revisions, approvals, documents. It has no model of a factory, so it cannot say what a design feature triggers in a real one. PCBoffer starts exactly there: the same BOM is evaluated against component availability, lifecycle status and a machine model. For teams without PLM it replaces the spreadsheet; for teams with PLM it adds the manufacturing side that PLM does not cover.
Can I import an existing BOM from Altium, KiCad or Excel?
Yes. The import detects the columns automatically, manufacturer part number, quantity, reference designators, description, even when they are named or ordered differently than in the last project. Scrubbing then runs: part numbers are checked against the component database, duplicates are merged, and positions without an unambiguous match are reported as such rather than silently assumed.
